Understand the problem
A warm patch may help identify a pipe route, but temperature alone cannot confirm a leak. Hot water use, nearby heating and the surrounding materials affect what appears on the surface. We combine the pattern with suitable checks of the plumbing.
Distinguish warmth from escaping water
We review when the affected area changes and how the hot water is supplied. Appropriate isolation, moisture readings and thermal observations may help assess the suspect section. The goal is a reasoned location for access, not a diagnosis from colour alone.
What to prepare
Share whether the problem relates to taps, showers or continuous water use. Tell us the type of hot water system if known, and keep access to relevant cupboards clear.
Scope matters
Stored hot water and specialist cylinder components may need additional expertise. Do not dismantle safety devices or alter cylinder controls to investigate the problem yourself.
Detection through to the plumbing repair
For agreed residential work, the £1,345 package connects specialist investigation with the plumbing repair. It includes detection and tracing, necessary access or excavation, parts and materials, suitable post-repair testing and a Trace & Access report. A 12-month workmanship warranty applies to the repair.
The £100 booking deposit is deducted from the total, leaving £1,245. Applicable tax is included. Decorative and remedial reinstatement, including restoring floors, plaster, paving and other finishes, is excluded. Commercial work is quoted separately. Read the complete package scope before arranging a visit.
Choosing the right method
One method that may be considered is thermal imaging. Read surface temperature patterns to support a plumbing investigation. The engineer selects the approach for the actual installation; no specific instrument is promised for every visit.
